Producers Guild Of India To Constitute A Committee After Sexual Harassment Reports On The Rise
The Producers Guild Of India has sent forth a statement supporting the ongoing #MeToo campaign. They have given their unconditional support to the movement and spoken about constituting a special committee to look into the same
Tanushree Dutta’s sexual harassment allegations against
Nana Patekar have unleashed a mass movement of sorts. Many seem to have derived
courage from Tanushree’s bold and explosive statement, and have come out to
share their #MeToo stories with the world.
People from all walks of life are coming out in the open
and speaking about having faced sexual harassment at workplace and outside.
Now, the Producer's Guild helmed by Siddharth Roy Kapur, has lent its full
support to the movement. Here's what their statement reads:
Producers Guild of India extends its complete support to
the movement to call out and report sexual harassment and abuse whenever and
wherever it occurs in our industry. We believe that there is an urgent need to
set up a robust process to ensure the highest standards of safety for employees
and crew members at the workplace - whether in offices or on sets of
productions. We are instituting a committee within the Guild to lead this
effort, and we are determined to stay the course till workplaces in the industry
are safe spaces for everyone.

Apart from Nana Patekar, many other celebs have been accused of sexual harassment. Vikas Bahl, Vivek Agnihotri, Chetan Bhagat, Tanmay Bhat, Alok Nath, Jeeveshu Ahluwalia, Gursimran Khamba, Varun Grover and many others are embroiled in controversy. While many have spoken up about the allegations, there are others who have preferred to stay mum. Quite a few celebs have also apologised for their actions.
